Jasprit Bumrah wasn't the real hero: This player made the real difference

Not Bumrah, Former Australian cricketer feels THIS Indian player made the Real difference in the third Test

Former Right-Handed Aussie , Brad Hodge has come out in high praise of India’s Jasprit Bumrah and Chiteshwar Pujara. India won a test in MCG after 31 years courtesy to Chiteshwar Pujara and Jasprit Bumrah as both Pujara and Bumrah played a key role in India’s 137 run win in the Boxing Day Test. While Pujara scored a century in the first innings, Bumrah picked up 9 wickets in the match, including a 6-fer in the first innings.
Hodge believes that Pujara has been the difference between the two sides in the ongoing series, primarily because he hasn’t thrown away his wicket cheaply while taking out the time off the game.
“Pujara has been the difference between the two sides. Both bowling units have looked strong. Barring the first session in Perth (where Australia scored 112-0), and Mayank Agarwal in Melbourne, all four openers have struggled,”  said the former KXIP coach.
“So, the number three position where Pujara has dominated, has been of importance. Not only has he not lost his wicket cheaply, but he has also taken time out of the game,” he added.
Brad Hodge has come out in high praise of India’s Jasprit Bumrah and Chiteshwar Pujara. Both Pujara and Bumrah played a key role in India’s 137 run win in the Boxing Day Test. While Pujara scored a century in the first innings, Bumrah picked up 9 wickets in the match, including a 6-fer in the first innings.
Brad is of the opinion that this time around, Pujara has played Lyon well, the bowler who has dismissed him the most number of times, this has been like a small phycological victory for him, which certainly gave him an edge over the other Australian Bowlers.
“He also negated Nathan Lyon who bowled extremely well in Adelaide and Perth. So Pujara’s importance cannot be ignored. He was left out of the first Test in England, and came back into contention. He has not been playing T20 cricket, and instead went to play for Yorkshire. He does the hard work and is getting rewards.” the 44 year-old went on to say.
While Pujara notched up his second ton of the series at the MCG, it was Bumrah who produced a special spell in the first innings, being instrumental in Australia’s downfall, leading to a paltry score of 151. Hodge was of full praise for the Indian pace attack and he pinpointed Bumrah.
“Bumrah is a nightmare to face. If you ask any batsman, he is one of the most dangerous bowlers to face. He is quick, very accurate and moves the ball both ways, which is what you want from a Test match bowler. Bumrah averages 21.02 with the ball and has an economy, and a strike rate of 2.66 and 47.46 respectively,” Hodge remarked.
“His economy and strike-rates in Test cricket are already comparing to those for Kapil Dev, who is legendary in Indian cricket. So to be in that category within 12 months is amazing,” he added.
While this comes as no surprise, the Indian team has had a special tour Down Under this time around and with still one match to go, they are likely to clinch the series 3-1, given the form India is in. Should the result be anything except a loss in fourth and final test to be held in SCG from 3 Jan, it’ll be the first series victory for India on Australian soil.
